Golf
Enjoy world-class golf on a superb nine-hole course or at the Golf Academy. From the friendly welcome right through to the drive home, everything you could possibly ask for in a day or weekend’s golf, can be found at the Engelenburg Castle: the magnificent course, luxurious locker rooms and the Netherlands’ most beautiful “clubhouse” that serves great food and drinks. Threading through high ridges, the course offers lovely woodland settings, lochs and ditches, water hazards, as well as many moorland characteristics, an excellent choice for a golf holiday in the Netherlands.
With your very first approach shot, you’ll find out all about the course. If you’ve driven straight and long from the tee, you will have what looks like a simple pitch to the elevated green. But you must be sure to select the correct club, because the shot is always a little longer than you think, with the wind over the putting surface often stronger than you can feel it from the fairway. Donald Steel did not design an easy course at Engelenburg Castle.
Selecting the right club for each approach shot is the secret on Engelenburg’s golf course. It is certainly one of the most beautiful and exhilarating places to play golf in the eastern part of the Netherlands, with century-old Oak trees, water hazards, the third tee on top of the 18th century ice cellar and the sweeping views from the tees all around towards the Manor House.
