Fam Agricola (Small)

Johan and Carin Agricola, Owners
In October 2005 Johan and Carin Agricola became the Managing Directors of Engelenburg Castle. 

Johan had been the Managing Director of The Lord Charles Hotel in Cape Town, South Africa between 1997 and 2004 and Johan and Carin were the General Managers of Landgoed Lauswolt in Beetsterzwaag (Friesland) between1990 and1997. 

From 2001 to 2002 Johan was Deputy Marshal of the Court at The Royal Household and responsible for the wedding arrangements of His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima. 

Johan Agricola is a member of the advisory board of The Dutch. The golfcourse hosting the KLM Open in 2016, part of the European Tour.
Maurice Kersten (Large)

Maurice Kersten, Executive Chef
Maurice Kersten is trained by Masterchef Robert Kranenborg in the Amstel Hotel (Amsterdam) and Pascal Jalhaij at Restaurant Vermeer ( Amsterdam ). Since 2005 Maurice is the Executove Chef of Kasteel Engelenburg. His vision is to use only the freshest local ingredients. Herbs from our own gardens, game from our estate and fish from the Ijssel river and nearby lakes and sea. Working with supliers with whom he sharese a passion for sustainable food is the basis of our cuisine
Bela Palma (Large)

Béla Pálma, Sales and Reservations Manager
Béla started his hotel career after hotel school in 1994 at Kasteel Engelenburg.  But he moved in 2000  to Grand Hotel Karel V in Utrecht and was the reservation manager for this beautiful 5 start hotel.  In 2005 Béla returned to Kasteel Engelenburg and was appointed sales & reservation manager.
Arjen Pleij (Large)

Arjen Pleij, Food and Beverage Manager
Arjen studied Hospitality Management in Deventer and did his Master degree  at the University of North London.  During his traineeship in Scotland he fell in love with Scottish Single Malt Whisky.  But his real passion is wine.  He is  viticulturist of the wine academy and currently studying to become Magister Vini, the highest degree in wine in the Netherlands. Arjen travels regularly to South Africa to explore new wines and stay in touch with the winemakers.
Jurgen Luppes (Large)

Jurgen Luppes, Restaurant and Sommelier
In 1988 Jurgen started as employee number 1 at Kasteel Engelenburg after he finished his hotelschool training.  Jurgen is is  viticulturist and liquorist of the wine academy. Under his guidance Kasteel Engelenburg received The Scotch Single Malt Whisky Award in 2000. In 2010 Jurgen was the Dutch National Champion Wines of South Africa in the World Cup Sommeliers. 
Andre van Heest (Large)

André van Heest, Financial Controller
André is our financial controller since 2010. Before joining our team he gained a lot of experience at Bilderberg Hotels and Regardz Hotels.
